FP Movement x Honestly Fit

Photoshoot for Honestly Fit www.honestlyfit.com
Clothing by Free People Movement www.freepeople.com/fp-movement
Photographed by NatVon Photography

This photoshoot was coordinated and directed by my good friend Orissa Rose, the executive editor of Honestly Fit, which is a wellness and fitness blog. There is something so empowering about gathering a group of women to create something together, and I feel this photoshoot perfectly embodied the refreshing feeling of nature, wellness, camaraderie and fashion inspiration. We gathered at one of San Francisco’s most beautiful locations with a clear view of the Golden Gate Bridge. The photoshoot was styled by one of my favorite fashion brands, Free People Movement, whom I’m very excited to have the opportunity to work with!

10 Year Anniversary

2019 marks the 10-year anniversary of NatVon Photography!! The time has flown by! Ever since I was little I always loved doing all types of art; pottery, painting, drawing, and more. It wasn’t until I got my first camera when I was 17 that I discovered that photography was the perfect medium for me to express my artistic side. By the time I was a senior in high school, I had created NatVon Photography and started out shooting with high school friends and models from modelmayhem.com. Freshman year of college I majored in photography at San Jose State University, however the program didn’t seem fitting for me and I switched to a community college after the first semester. I was persuaded by my family to major in something else that would be a more “stable job”, and I decided to pursue my other passion of environmental preservation. I transferred to Humboldt State University and graduated in 2014 with a bachelors degree in Environmental Management and Protection.
The first two environmental jobs I had out of college made me completely miserable and I realized that the corporate world is not for me. In August 2018 I quit my job to pursue my photography business full-time and have been hustling hard ever since! To be honest, starting and running a business is turning out to be much harder than I expected, plus I found out I was pregnant a couple months after quitting my job, which added difficulties to the business process.
So here I am 10 years later. I work hard to progress every single day. My business is not where I want it to be, but I am getting there. I have a lot of faith in the universe that everything will work out, but I’ve learned that it takes a lot more than faith and hope to get where you want. Goal setting, taking action, and making genuine connections are essential!
My heart's truest desire is to have my photography business bring me creative fulfillment and financial abundance by inspiring, uplifting, and empowering others. I value the freedom of being an entrepreneur and the ability to create my own schedule. This is a challenging journey, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to make it to the top!!

Joshua Tree Music Festival

I had so much fun being on the media team for Joshua Tree Music Festival! I went with my mom and we drove over seven hours to get there and then set up our camp under the spectacular desert night sky. The JTMF is a family friendly global music festival held in Joshua Tree, California. Unfortunately there were no actual Joshua trees in the vicinity of the festival but the National Park was only a ten minute drive away! In addition to music, the festival has yoga, workshops, sound healing, land conservation presentations, live art, performances, shopping, food, and more! Lots of people we met have been attending the music festival for over a decade and there were lots of regulars. Luckily, it is held in October so we escaped the desert heat, however it was extremely windy most of the time and it was difficult to keep our camp in tact! JTMF is also held in May as well. On the drive home, our experience was topped off with witnessing Elon Musk’s Space X launch in southern California, which I thought for sure was a UFO when I saw it! Later on we found out it was a rocket. Still trippyyy!

Golden Goddess

Oh how I love the wonderful, creative people I get to work with! For this editorial, the model Meliz put together the entire concept, outfit, and location, and I was excited she asked me to bring it to life with my photography. This was one of the rare early-morning photoshoots I’ve done, but the lighting was well worth it! Everything was glowing gold and Meliz exuded total goddess vibes! I also love how everything is in harmony with the Earth and she looks like an Earth-protecting strong female warrior.

Cemetery Siren

This photoshoot took place in a historic cemetery with many of the tombstones from the 1800s and early 1900s. The ghostly cemetery cats watching us gave the feeling of a scouring presence. I combined powers with the super talented and inspiring model Kristen Pro, who is also a sponsored yogi. Her yoga background provided some unique poses along with a full wardrobe that she pulled together herself, and spot-on makeup artistry— she is super talented!! She embodied the gothic, creepy cemetery vibes and the whole shoot felt like a flowing art piece. The hair stylist, Carissa Pierotti, and I met at an art show in San Jose where she was showcasing her work and I have been excited to work with her ever since. The cemetery spirits even seemed to have added in a little touch to the photos. We had so much fun doing this shoot and I love the mystical, authentic, and creepy essence produced from our dream team collaboration!

“I've always loved fashion. I started making clothes because I would get ideas of outfits I wanted to wear, but I couldn't find them in stores, so I'd make it or rework a piece. I'm going back to school for it and I'm excited to see where that takes me!”

One Stop Soul Shop at Northern Nights

When I was shopping at the vendor booths at Northern Nights I was immediately attracted to One Stop Soul Shop! The owner, Mackenzie, is a boss babe entrepreneur who makes beautiful one-of-a-kind dreamcatchers and crystal jewelry. Her passion and positive vibes radiate into her creations. We set up a photoshoot, and as we were walking to the shooting location we passed a beautiful woman that we thought we also be an amazing model for the shoot! Her name was Sara, and she kindly agreed to model, as you can see in the first few photos. I just love how this shoot synchronistically came together!

Ariel Peake at Northern Nights

Norther Nights was SO. MUCH. FUN!! For sure one of my favorite music festivals of all time. One of the stages was located in a grove of redwood trees with beautiful decorations all around, which is where we shot these photos. Ariel was an "Influencer" for the festival and got a free VIP ticket so she could share and promote the festival with her large social media following. For our first look we shot a hat from Neon Cowboys and then switched it up with an outfit from Noralina Freedom Designs who had a booth at the festival. Our shoot was abruptly ended by someone screaming on an acid trip, but up until that point we had a very lovely time!

Leslie and I have been shooting since day one and I always admire how our creativity flows together. She recently moved to Colorado but happened to be in town, so we jumped on the opportunity to create some photoshoot magic. We came up with the theme and location on short notice, then executed Purple Paradise Perfection! Leslie's birthday was a couple days after the shoot, so we decided this was her birthday shoot which makes it extra special.  Plus, purple is our favorite color!

Enchanted Forest Gathering

Enchanted Forest Gathering
Dates: June 9th to 11th, 2018
Location: Black Oak Ranch, Laytonville, CA along Highway 101

I had such a fun experience being on the Media Team for Enchanted Forest Gathering! The staff was super nice, treated us so well and really valued our work. The vibes of this music festival were fun, friendly, and it felt like a community where everyone cared about each other and was looking out for each other. The festival offered several stages of music, top-notch people watching, fresh organic food, unique shopping vendors, different styles of camping, and an all-around excellent experience! If you have never been to a music festival before, I would recommend this as your first!

Nessia Starr- Wellness & Lifestyle Coach

My Experience with Nessia Starr: Holistic Health, Wellness, & Lifestyle Coach

After recently completing Nessia's 6-month Coaching Program, I am excited to say I feel the best I've EVER felt!  My goals were to have increased energy to get me through the day, and to use my increased energy to do more with photography and transition into my photography career from my day job. Nessia is fun, upbeat, and exudes radiant health. We met twice a month in a coffee shop downtown, and after our meetings I always felt inspired, optimistic, and excited to try her new suggestions.

Nessia created a customized and specific plan to my goals, which was measured based on how gradually implementing new changes made me feel. She introduced strategies and ideas I never would have tried or came across anywhere else on my own. She was able to look at my life with a fresh perspective, and directly address how to overcome any obstacle I had. I learned exactly what I need to do to make myself feel great, to recognize the feeling and importance of high quality food, how to boost my overall health and immune system using supplements, how to detox my home, strategies to make meal planning easy and efficient, and so much more!!

The most significant change I noticed was an overall energy level increase throughout the day. I gained the tools and knowledge to have more control over how I feel physically and mentally. Nessia’s guidance for a more positive mindset and tools such as meditation and gratitude have drastically improved the quality of my life. Another significant change I experienced during her program was that I found my photography niche and how to use it in a way to help and benefit others. This discovery makes it possible to direct my focus and energy into what really matters for my business. Nessia introduced exciting business and marketing strategies and we implemented a gradual and realistic path for transitioning careers from my 9 to 5 day job, to my photography business, which I have now started part-time and love it!!

With Nessia's coaching I have implemented a sustainable lifestyle and have the tools I need to go forward in my life with excellent health, a positive mindset, and the courage to fulfill my dreams and life purpose.

If you are looking for a knowledgeable and supportive coach to help you meet your goals, I highly recommend Nessia Starr!  She will change your life!

In-Depth Hawaii Hoopdance Retreat 2018

In-Depth Hawaii Hoopdance Retreat (www.HawaiiHoopDance.com)
Produced by Caroline Pauline Cárdenas creator of The Hula Hoop Girl (www.TheHulaHoopGirl.com)
January 20-27, 2018
Location: Kalani Oceanside Retreat, Big Island, Hawaii

The intention of In-Depth Hawaii Hoopdance Retreat was to create a safe, inviting, and loving space to inspire the mind, body, and soul to experience the transformational power of joy replenishment through Body & Movement Play. The week consisted of seven days filled with several workshops taught by some of the world's best hoopdance instructors, morning yoga classes taught by a talented Somatic Psychologist and Yoga Teacher, dining on a variety of delicious organic meals prepared by the Kalani staff, and free time in the jungles to roam and explore.

This retreat and the powerful, caring women who helped imagine and create this experience will always hold a dear place in my heart. Together, we laughed, cried, played, and as Caroline would say, danced in the center of our joy. Photographing the retreat was one of the most exciting and fulfilling photography projects I have ever experienced. After being immersed in the fullness of the week’s activities, connections, and creative expression with all of the women at the retreat, I knew that I was living my dream job and felt even more inspired to forge ahead and pursue my vision of becoming a full-time photographer to share my art with the world. My heart is full of gratitude and so much joy and I am forever shaped by this amazing time when we all danced in the center of our joy in the jungles of the Big Island.

If you are interested in a Soul fulfilling experience, check out what In-Depth Hawaii Hoopdance Retreat is all about. I assure you that your joy will be replenished and you will learn new hoopdance tricks and techniques, create great memories, and make great friends too!

UPDATE: Due to recent Kīlauea eruptions, lava flow, earthquakes, presence of toxic gasses and road closures impacting the Kalani Retreat Center, the decision has been made to cancel In-Depth 2019. In Caroline's words, "It has been my honor to produce the final In-Depth Hawaii Hoopdance Retreat! My hope is to return to one of the Hawaiian Islands in the future to offer another Hoopdance Retreat again. Only time will tell and only Mother Nature will dictate what the future holds…Stay tuned for a new Hoopdance Retreat in a new location for 2020 or 2021."
